DAY 1 - KOTA KINABALU / TUARAN / BAVANGGAZO / TANJUNG SIMPANG MENGAYAU / RUNGUS LONG HOUSE
8.30hrs Meet & pick up at hotel lobby and transfer to Kudat. Kudat is located at the Northern Tip of Borneo.
Journey will take approximately 3 hours from Kota Kinabalu city, driving through scenic countryside, paddy fields, villages, oil palm plantation; local stalls selling handicraft and food items. Along the way, make a few pit stops at Tuaran, a bustling little town with tree-lined boulevard-style streets. Walk across the suspension (hanging) bridge, visit the peanut's stall and capture panoramic shots of the distinctive nine-storey Chinese Pagoda, whose approaches are dominated by vividly painted guardian deities.
Proceed on to Bavanggazo Long House Village, built entirely using local materials, it is home to the Rungus people community, a sub-tribe of the indigenous Kadazandusun. Observe their very own unique bead works, lifestyle and costumes. Lunch will be served in Rungus style. After the hefty traditional native lunch, continue to Northern Tip of Borneo, also known as Tanjung Simpang Mengayau which means 'lingering junction' as it is here that the South China Sea lingers and meets the Sulu Seas flowing from the east. As you stroll the beach, feast on the breathtaking views of the dramatic rocky outcrop and experience incomparable fascinating scenery of long stretch white sandy beach and the breeze of wind blow. The tip was blessed with wide publicity, especially in Borneo, through popular mass media like the 2003 book entitled "KUDAT".
A short drive to the Kudat town (the first capital of British North Borneo Chartered Company), looking at some of the old shop houses around the area. Afterwards, back to Bavanggazo Long House Village. Wash up and the rest of the night is yours to relax. A delectable traditional dinner followed by a welcome cultural performances of Anggalang Magunatip (a traditional dance performed by Murut tribes in the past to welcome triumphant battle groups or victorious head hunting parties) and Rungus dance. A chance also to watch another highlight by the elders of the village - playing of the nose flute of Tuahi. Overnight in long house.
DAY 2 - SUMANGKAP GONG VILLAGE / GOMBIZAU BEE FARM / KOTA KINABALU
Breakfast provided at Rungus Longhouse. Thereafter, bid farewell and proceed to Sumangkap Village, well known for its "Gong" making skill by its local artisan and finally Gombizau Honey Bee Farm. You will be able to observe how a bee farm is managed a chance to get a taste of raw honey straight from the honeycomb! Lunch will be served in a local restaurant before returning back to Kota Kinabalu in the afternoon.
