Day 01: Balloon over Inle – Pindaya (B, L, D)
From 5:30 to 6:00am, we pick you up at your hotel in the surrounding area of Inle Lake and depart to launch and landing site. The first highlight of the experience is a guided interactive tour around the balloon during inflation from your pilot just prior to take off. Start our journey commencing with an early morning flight over Inle Lake, home to the Inthar people. Our pilots carefully use their knowledge of the winds to steer the balloon over the floating villages and water gardens. The exciting thing about ballooning is that you just don’t know what you will see next since the balloon can only go where the wind takes it. You may see Inle waking up in the morning. You may see many temples in the distance and get a spectacular aerial view of Inle. Sometimes you may flight over villages and see people on their early morning rounds, feeding their animals or going to market. It would be an amazing and interactive experience. After about an hour of flight, we will land for the breakfast wherever the wind takes us. This could be next to a pagoda, a field by a village, on a sandbank, or even across the river, which will involve a rescue by boat. You then enjoy the breakfast on our special retrieve boat in the middle of the lake or next to one of the beautiful Shan villages depending on the place we land. The post flight celebrations are an important part of ballooning in this special area and not to be rushed. You can stay longer after landing to drink and extra glass of champagne or chat with villagers who come to witness the landing. After that, you join in half day cooking experience. Start with visiting a local market and buy cooking ingredients from there. Then we come to an Inthar house and experience Intha traditional cooking and sharing food for lunch with the house owner family.
In the afternoon, we transfer to Pindaya. From there, you’ll take a short walk or cycle to Tad Mae Village in the hills outside Pindaya in time for sunset and evening bonfire dinner under the Banyan trees. You will stay overnight in the village house with luxury bedding provided.
Day 02: Balloon over Pindaya – Pindaya cave tour – Heho Airport/alternative onward destination (B, L)
As the day before, you will take a balloon trip but over Pindaya in the early morning. Reminiscent of the rolling hills of Tuscany, Pindaya is set against some of the highest Shan Mountains and is a delight to see from the air. We will fly along the mountain valley, passing tiny Shan hamlets and hill top pagodas occasionally swooping down to the delight of villagers who have never seen a hot air balloon before. We fly at a time when the fields are awash with color, with swathes of green and yellow against brilliant blue skies. Finally end our trip by landing at where the wind takes it. You then enjoy a cooked private breakfast in the fields surrounding Pindaya. After that, we will have a Pindaya caves tour. Coming here, you will visit magnificent Pindaya Caves. This is an important pilgrimage site for Burmese Buddhists and is also an attractive sight for tourists. This 150m-long-cave is set in a limestone hill containing thousands of Buddha images in various styles and from different eras from the early Konbaung dynasty to present day. Every small corner and nook of the cave is cramped with Buddha images up to the ceiling. Many are gold plated, others are made from teak wood, marble, bronze and other materials. Many are very small, some are life size. You then have a picnic lunch with Chef’s special menu including house drinks, coffee and tea. Finally, our car takes you to the last destination as our appointment. End trip
