There’s minimal traffic, and the rural soundtrack is defined by gurgling irrigation streams and birdsong. 07.00 - 07.30: Pick-up at hotel in Old Quarter then depart to Mai Chau.
12.00: Arrive Mai Chau Valley and have local style lunch in a Thai traditional stilt house
13.00: Cycle round the valley and visit surrounding peaceful villages.

Our guide and driver will come and pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter then depart to Mai Chau. The distance from Hanoi to Mai Chai is 135km from Hanoi. It is quite far but it will be worthy for you to have soft and peaceful day. On the way, you will see the road will slowly weave itself through mountains, fertile valleys and traditional villages. You will have 2 stops: A Luoi and Thung Khe Pass. And it takes around 15 minutes that you can stretch your legs. One of stops is Thung Khe Pass with smooth curves. From there, you can have an overview of Mai Chau Valley.
Arrive in Mai Chau Valley around twelve o'clock noon. The first stop is Mai Chau Valley. Set in an idyllic valley, hemmed in by hills, the Mai Chau area is a world away from Hanoi's hustle. The villagers are mostly White Thai, distantly related to tribes in Thailand, Laos and China. The Thai women are masterful weavers producing plenty of traditional-style clothing and souvenirs.
Afterward, we spend time having local style lunch in a Thai traditional stilt house.
In the afternoon, cycle round the valley with the distance about 8 – 9km. On the way, you will see stunning view of green rice fields. If you come here in harvest season, you can be amazed by a golden picture of fields. This is a good result after a hard work time of farmers. You can see farmers working in fields, locals weaving scarves and visit surrounding peaceful villages. You will have the opportunity to have a closer look of the local people as well as their life. You will have time to visit a signature stilt house of the local and take a look of its architecture. Listen stories from tour guide, you will understand more about those houses.
Mai Chau is an ideal place which can help you forget all of stress negative energy in your life and live slower. Mai Chau Valley is a very good place for people who like to take a bike trip along the village road through the wet rice fields and simply sitting on the house-on-stilts to enjoy the peaceful and quiet atmosphere of the village.
