What To Expect

In Sarawak, the dominant tribal groups are the Dayak. Tribal people live in longhouses. There are the Iban (sea dayak) and the Bidayuh (land dayak). All of Malaysia’s tribal people feel a strong spiritual connection to the rainforest. The longhouse is the very centre of communal life in Sarawak. The houses are built uniquely and there is a great sense of unity within the community and their inhabitants are very well known for hospitality, It’s back to basic here with the facilities, throw luxury out the window and enjoy the simple life. There are no hot water for showers at the Rover Lodge and the longhouse. With that aside, you may fully immerse yourself in the Iban culture, savor ethnic flavors in their delicacies and of-course feel right at home with the warm smiles and friendliness. The simple life with traditional activities such as cock fighting, blow-pipe….. will not make you regrettable. Eventually, the modern life, despite giving you convenience, sometimes drive you forget simple beauties used to exist in this world.
