At 7:00am, we pick you up at your hotel in Bangkok and start by riding along a canal and through rice paddies that go on as far as the eye can see. At one point we’ll be literally riding above the canal as ride on an elevated walkway. We head off along the banks of the Chao Phraya River passing through local communities going about their daily life. We then head away from riverside life, pass into the rural surroundings with rice paddies and fruit plantations, and arrive at the bank of the river at Bang Bua Thong. From there, we take a ferry ride crossing the river to Koh Kret Island, which was cut from an ox bow in the river in 1722, during the reign of King Thaisa of Ayutthaya. The island has always been populated by the Mon. they are famous for their craftsmanship and skill at the potter’s wheel and still make all kinds of terracotta and earthenware products. Coming here, we will see the pottery village and visit the island’s Ancient Mon Pottery Center – Wat Paramai Yikawat or Wat Mon, which contains a Mon styled marble Buddha. The main village is a thriving market place where you can see the pottery making process and shop for pots, mortars and flowerpots. The road around the island is a treat to cycle on due to the absence of cars. We finish the cycling by crossing back over the river to Wat Bang Jak. Here we enjoy a great Thai lunch overlooking the river as your rewards for exertions of the day. Finally, our bus takes you back to your hotel in Bangkok. End trip around 4:00pm.
