Chiang Mai is the second biggest city of Thailand and located 700 km north of Bangkok. This city was the capital of the ancient Lanna Kingdom in 1296. Chiang Mai likes a symphony between the past and the present life. It is known for many ancient temples.
Let’s go straight to the first destination, Chiang Mai City Arts and Cultural Centre. The Chiang Mai City Arts and Culture Center was built in 1927. It was used as the central administrative office of the Monthol Phayap administrative unit of Siam, and later as the Provincial Hall of Chiang Mai.
The center helps people have a better understanding about Chiang Mai city, a sense of pride in local identity, and its beauty of local culture. The center has been divided into 2 sections. One off them is all for showing the development of the region from the pre-history to its rise and decline as an independent capital until the present time through variety of media and presentation. And the other is the enclosed open-air courtyard reserved for cultural activities, temporary exhibition, a souvenir shop, a lecture theatre.
Next, you will go to visit an old temple off Thailand, Wat Chiang Man. This temple was built in 13th century. There are 2 well-know statues of this temple: one is Phra sae Tang Kamani Buddha statue by crystal and other is Phra Sila Buddha by stone, carved in 900 in India.
People believe that if a city owns both of 2 statues, it will have amazing development.
Continuing the tour, you will explore another temple off Chiang Mai, Wat Phra Singh. Wat Phra Singh is located the west of Chiang Mai's old city center. its main entrance is protected by lion statues. There are some bulidngs inside the temple, you should visit all of them if you have more time.
The last temple for this tour is Wat Chedi Luang. Wat Chedi Luang of Chiang Mai is in Northern Thailand. This is the oldest temple in Chiang Mai and was built in 1391. Its design also have same characters with other temples in Chiang Mai with a peaceful atmosphere. Maybe one of the most mysterious thing in Wat Chedi Luang is the body of the three great masters who still retain their shape, ruddy skin and refined looks like the living.
