From 7:45am, we pick you up at your hotel in Chiang Rai and depart to buggy base. We will provide you with safety instruction on our level compound and practice. When you’re ready, we start heading to an unspoiled Mien Hill tribe village. This is a small village of perhaps 200 farmers, but the roads around the village are well paced and you will get to see their real way of life. The settlers here arrived on the old caravan route from China and unlike the commercial hill tribe attractions. This village does not get tourist and so speaks only Chinese and Thai. After a tour around the village, we will ride to Haunted Lake. This is an easy ride about 5km and almost all of it is paced. It gives you the opportunity to become familiar with your buggy. By now we hope you have gained some confidence, the return journey is 3 or 4 times longer and mostly off-road. We firstly head back to Mien village and then into the mountains, through rubber tree plantations, over mountain ridges, valley and up to the summit at our mountain home. Here you will be served lunch ranging from freshly made sandwiches to local Thai food and freshly ground coffee, soft drinks or alcoholic beverages (but please don’t get drunk if you are adventuring). Then you can relax with sunbathe or swimming in the cliff-top salt-water swimming pool.
In the afternoon, we ride through rubber tree plantations, on mountain ridges, through valleys, corn fields, bamboo and teak forest and stop at the largest waterfall in Chiang Rai Province – Khun Kon Waterfall, which is a natural swimming pool at the base of a 50m waterfall. Here you can relax and admire its beauty. Finally, we will take you back to your hotel. End trip.
