At 7:45 am, we pick you up at your hotel in Yangon and start our sightseeing tour around the city. At 8.00 am, our first destination is Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda with the magnificent Reclining Buddha Image. Then we go to Karaweik Hall and take some nice photo with the “Hamsa-bird” shaped floating barde on Kandawgyi (Royal) Lake. We continue by visiting National Museum. Here you can see the famous Lion Throne and Royal Regalia. After that, we drive through the colonial style building downtown, as well as Chinatown and Indian quarter. Stop at City Hall and Sule Pagoda, you can take photos of its golden chedi – a useful landmark in downtown Yangon. Then you will have lunch in a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, we will take a walk along Yangon River to see the busy harbor area, from where ferries leave for Pathein in the Delta and for upcountry towns along the Ayeyarwady River and Botathaung Pagoda, which is said to contain Buddha relics. Later, we visit Bogyoke (Scott) market where you can see Myanmar’s wide range of handicrafts. Lastly, we take you to visit one of the world’s most spectacular monument – Shwedagon Pagoda. It is said to be 2,600 years old with the main gold-plated dome is topped by a stupa containing over 7,000 diamonds, rubies, topaz and sapphires; and the whole giddy concoction offset by a massive emerald positioned to reflect the last rays of the setting sun. We will wait to enjoy the sunset from the pagoda before transferring back to your hotel. End trip around 6.00 pm.
