Day 01: Vientiane – Tad Leuk – Camp Site 1
At 8:00am, we pick you up at your hotel in Vientiane and depart to Tad Leuk Waterfall in the Phou Khao Khouay National Protected Area. On the way, we will stop to visit the permanent exhibit at the Tad Leuk Visitors’ Centre. When we arrive, you will have lunch at the waterfall and take a short rest. After that, we start trekking to the first Camp Site – a sandstone beach on the edge of the dry riverbed. The trail offers plenty of opportunities for bird spotting, tracing monkeys and other animals. This night you will stay in this camp site.
Day 02: Camp Site 1 – Camp Site 2
After breakfast, we continue trekking to reach the top of a waterfall for a great viewpoint over the surrounding canopy. Amidst clear bamboo and liana forest, a very large Burma Mahogany tree makes a spectacular landmark. A picnic lunch will be prepared on the river bank.
In the afternoon, we move to the second Camp Site. During twilight, birds, monkeys and squirrels can be heard in the 40m high pine trees around the camp site. Enjoy your night here
Day 03: Camp Site 2 – Ban Hoay Leuk – Vientiane
After breakfast, we start our last day trek through a very rich section of the old forest, known as a habitat for tigers and elephants. Our guide will show you the traces of elephants from the damaged trees and bushes or even their footprints.
Our last stop is Ang Nam Leuk reservoir, which is known to be inhabited by the Siamese Crocodile. You will have lunch in a local house and spend time with local people. In the late afternoon, we transfer back to your hotel in Vientiane. End trip around 6:00pm.
