At 7:00am, we pick you up at your hotel in Bangkok and take to bike to explore the ruins of the impressive Ayutthaya Historical Park – a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1991. It comprises of the ruins of temples and palaces of the capital of the ancient Ayutthaya Kingdom. During the more than 400 years of its existence, the Ayutthaya Kingdom built a great number of temples in various styles. Many have been restored by the Thai Fine Arts Department. We firstly visit Wat Yai Chaimongkol and its towering chedi, one so large that it presently is sinking. Continue biking through the ancient city’s walls, we visit Wat Phra Mahatat, which is well-known for the head of an image of the Buddha around which a tree has grown. When viewing or photographing the head, please sit or kneel down as an image of the Buddha should always be positioned higher than people. Next, we visit the Old Royal Palace in Ayutthaya area. From there we have time to continue exploring these precarious, precious structures, including the prominent Wat Chaiwatthanaram. It is one of the most impressive temples of the park built in 1630 as a Royal monastery, used for Buddhist ceremonies and royal cremations. We then ride to Bang Pa-in – as known as the Summer Palace. This is a very nice and relaxed place to visit with its large grounds where a number of buildings of various ages and architectural styles are located surrounded by a lake. Later, we ride back to Bangkok. Our driver will take you back to your hotel. End trip around 5:00pm.
