Brief Itinerary: 

Day 1: Lao Cai station – Can Cau market (Saturday) - Bac Ha town (B/L/D) 

5.30 - 6.15: Pick you up at Lao Cai station. Have breakfast at the local restaurant nearby.  

Transfer to Can Cau market.  

9.00 - 9.30: Arrive at the market. Spend your time to explore Can Cau market. 

Visit Flower Hmong’s village. 

12.00 - 12.30: Transfer to the hotel in Bac Ha town. Check in at the hotel. 

Have lunch at the local restaurant at Bac Ha town.  

Free time at leisure.  

Have dinner at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel. 

Day 2: Bac Ha market (Sunday) - Sapa town or Lao Cai station (B/L/D) 

Have breakfast at the hotel. 

7.30 - 8.00: Meet tour guide to transfer to Bac Ha market. 

10.00 - 10.30: Arrive at the market. Spend time to explore the market. 

Visit Hoang A Tuong Palace. 

Return to Bac Ha town. Have lunch at the local restaurant around 12.00 - 12.30.  

In the afternoon, you will visit Pho village. 

Come back to Lao Cai station or Sapa city center around 16.00 -16.30. On the way, you will stop at Lao Cai International Border Gate for being relaxed and observing the landscapes. Tour ends. 

Itinerary: 

Day 1: Lao Cai station – Can Cau market (Saturday) - Bac Ha town (B/L/D) 

Can Cau market is located at Can Cau commune, Lao Cai province which is about 100km to northeast from Lao Cai province center area. It takes around 3 hours to transfer to the market from Sapa city center.  

The local can’t give an exact time when the market appears but until now, Can Cau market is one of the most important and interesting markets in mountainous area. However, you should know that Can Cau market just opens on Saturday per week, it doesn’t open every day. The market nears to flank of the mountain with around 1 hectare area. The market has 2 different sections: Almost the area of the market will sell craft (brocade, accessories, etc.) and specialities, a part for selling livestock like buffalo, the others part of market have foods, daily tools for life such as chopstick, bowl, etc. Come here, you not only visit the local market but also can explore the special cultural features of ethnic minorities. Don’t forget to capture all of beautiful moments during trip! 

After visit the market, you will come to Bac Ha town for your lunch. Take time for rest and enjoy lunch at the local restaurant.  

Then, in the afternoon, you will visit one more place depending on the local brew the wine on that day or not. If they do, you will move to Pho village of Flower Hmong people to learn more about their traditional corn wine. If the local don’t brew wine on that day, you will go to Hoang A Tuong Palace.  

With the local village, you will have a closer view to the ethnic minority’s life as well as their habits. You can stroll on small paths of the village and listen to interesting stories about the village. You also can visit the local and observe how it looks. As you know, one of some main jobs of the mountainous area is growing food crops like rice, corn, etc. Therefore, people always want to take advantage of all plants for serving their needs in life. It is the reason for appearance’s corn wine. You will have the opportunity to know about the progress of making this traditional wine. On the way, you will see some women and children in colorful traditional clothes carrying baskets. 

Day 2: Bac Ha market (Sunday) - Sapa town or Lao Cai station (B/L/D) 

Bac Ha Market only opens one day of week, on Sunday. The market is located in center of Bac Ha town. This is one of the biggest and the most popular market of mountain area near borders. There are at least 8 ethnic groups such as Black DzaoNung, Tay, etc. attend to this market.  

Come here, you will see many stuffs from foods, souvenirs to clothes, even animals which are shown on small stalls. One of attractive points of the market is looking at ethnic minority’s traditional clothes. You can find many brocade clothes with different colors and details. Walk around the market, you can immerse to crowded and bustle atmosphere and learn more about their culture as well as their lifestyle. The local people come here not only for selling stuffs but also for communication among ethnic groups. Don’t forget to look around and try some local foods here.  

You will visit Hoang A Tuong’s palace. Hoang A Tuong Palace is a big building with 4000m2 area and took 7 years before completing in 1921. This palace was a nightmare of many people in the war time as it and Hoang A Tuong (the owner) stood by French side and always find methods to exploit the people. Hoang A Tuong sold drugs and supplied necessity items: salt and petrol. This palace has a great feng shui: a large hill behind the palace, the two sides having mountains and a stream in the front. Its architecture is a combination between French style and Tay people. 

Have lunch with local dishes at Bac Ha town.  

Then, you will move to Pho village which is located near the foot of Hoang Lien Son mountain range. The village is home of Hmong people. Main jobs off the local here still growing rice, making corn wine. Pho village’s corn wine is quite famous and has its reputation. Visiting the village, you will know more about the local’s life.
